Association for Computing Machinery, commonly referred to as ACM, was founded in 1947. ACM has student chapters in all prestigious colleges in the world that enables students enhance their skills in computer technologies. ACM hosts the computing industry's leading Digital Library and Guide to Computing Literature, and serves its global members and the computing profession with journals and magazines, conferences, workshops, electronic forums, and Online Books and Courses.
Over 100,000 members registered as of 2010. ACM is organised into over 170 local chapters and 35 other Special Interest Groups (SIGs), through which it conducts most of its activities. Additionally, there are over 500 colleges and university chapters. ACM also sponsors other computer science related event such as the world wide ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC).

About VNIT - ACM
With over 500 member strength in ACM-VNIT student chapter, it stands as the only association for Computing Machineries in VNIT. Since its establishment on 7th march 2008, the chapter is growing by leaps and bounds to cover wide range of computer technologies and application.
In order to enhance the computer skills and provide practical experience on technologies, the present committee has decided to hold the following:
- Seminars relating to computer technologies, coding and Web development
- Guest seminars for software professional
- Special lectures on student requests
- Quizzes and live projects
Website Launch
VACM is coming up with a new organised website, where users can view and download, reading materials and video tutorials. For this, they need to register with us. Already registered members can register and verify your membership with us.
Student Registrations
This is an online form, where user has to fill in his details and get login credentials. Soon, we will start the offline verification drive. Student have to bear an amount of Rs. 50 that will ensure their registration in VNIT-ACM student chapter for 4 years in VNIT
Seminars
Seminars on various topics are coming up. Starting with a lecture on Web-Technologies on 8/10/11, Saturday... Register before the seminar to get handouts and other study materials
Projects
Students will get chance to work on live project. As it is the beginning phase of the session, projecs will be introduced looking at the competence and knowledge of the students and move-over on their urge to learn new technologies
